I grew up with three brothers an hour east of Columbus, Ohio. My passion for strength training began in high school when a few other guys and I decided to join the baseball coach for 5:30am gym sessions before school to prepare for football, wrestling, and baseball.
I then coached high school football while earning my BA in history and philosophy from Muskingum University. Following undergrad, I moved to Atlanta, GA and obtained an MA in philosophy and taught undergraduates at Georgia State University. It was during this time at GSU that I fell in-love with powerlifting and competed in my first competition.
My passion is directed toward coaching, my own training and nutrition, and continuing education to improve as a coach and athlete. I am also a fan of powerlifting and bodybuilding and follow both closely.
Outside of the “iron world,” I enjoy going for walks, reading philosophy and fantasy, listening to various subgenres of hip-hop and rap music, and being an uncle to my niece. I also look forward to a yearly vacation to a music festival to catch up with old friends from high school.
During 2021 I had the opportunity to work with IPF and USAPL world-record holder and national and world champion powerlifter Bryce Lewis and The Strength Athlete as a member of their first intern class.
